2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 cup pecans * if there is a nut allergy swap for pumpkin seeds
1 cup soft medjool dates
1 tbsp. molasses

Directions

The holidays are such a fun and magical time for kids. It’s an opportunity to introduce them to family traditions (new or old) and that of course includes food! Many favourite recipes can be easily modified by swapping ingredients for more healthy alternatives without sacrificing the flavour or fun. Here is a fun kid-friendly recipe that incorporates all the taste of the holidays along with healthy fats, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Don’t forget kids love helping in the kitchen and they learn so much when we involve them. Have them measure, mix, pour, roll, decorate. The memories are sure to outlast the mess!

1. Combine rolled oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt and nuts or seeds in a food processor and pulse to combine (until it resembles a powder). Remove from food processor.

2. Add dates, molasses and almond butter/seed butter to food processor and pulse until combined.

3. Scrape the sides with a spatula and add dry ingredients. Pulse until everything is blended evenly.

4. Using a cookie scoop or your hands roll into 1” balls. You can roll or sprinkle them with shredded coconut to make them look like snowballs. Refrigerate for about an hour before eating. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge. Enjoy!
