Directions

Burgers a fun meal idea and they can definitely be healthy. But choosing a meat option all of the time can be taxing on the planet. This soy and grain based burger helps you make a more sustainable burger choice.

 

In a small pot, bring the water and quinoa to a boil. Cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. Meanwhile heat oil in a small pan over medium heat and sauté onion until translucent. Set aside to cool along with the cooked quinoa.

Using your hands, crumble tofu (to resemble ground beef) into a large bowl. Add cooked quinoa, onion, parsley, garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, cumin, garlic powder, salt, pepper, soy sauce and any optional add-ins to the tofu. Mix until well combined and then shape into 8 patties.

Heat oliv oil in a large pan and fry patties on each side until browned. Serve hot on a whole-grain hamburger bun along with your favourite condiments.
